Well, Tuesdays surgery was a success!! Both hips were replaced. The right hip was replaced first and took allot more time than estimated.
This hip was extremely ruined and already going through the median wall. In fact a portion of the head is still there, and used for "bone graph" because it would not dislocate and because there was nothing there for the "cup" to be placed in. The surgery nurse was afraid that because the length of surgery they would not be able to do the left hip. But, the Dr. really likes Sam and knew that he wouldn't be a "pain of a patient" , so they went ahead and did the left. From what we hear (hospital gossip), both hips being done at this hospital is a first , so on Wednesday before transferring out of ICU, he had an audience when he stood for the first time.
Sam was transferred out of ICU and into his own private room. Later that afternoon he was able to do some sitting in a "very uncomfortable" lazy boy looking chair, his blood pressure was a little low... Thursday, Sam was able to walk with the aid of crutches around 200 feet throughout the day. Toady's recovery was a little slower.. his blood count is still very low for him, as was his blood pressure earlier today. This caused him to be dizzy and not to be able to do any physical training..
Although, tentatively scheduled to be released on Saturday, he still has been unable to complete certain milestones.. so , he may be released at a later time.

I've got some extra red blood cells; I'll email Sam a transfusion.
Sorry to hear the healing is going slow, but at least he's being well tended by nurses and doctors. And hopefully good drugs.
